Holiday, FL- Kids Wish Network received an amazing donation of outstanding merchandise from Playmates Toys to distribute to children in crisis across the nation through Kids Wish Network’s amazingly uplifting gift-giving program.

This wonderful donation of toys, which includes brand new Star Trek action figures, playsets and the ever-popular Disney’s Fairies dolls, came to a retail value of over $15,000 worth of merchandise. This donation could not have come at a better time for Kids Wish Network, considering today’s economic climate.

These fabulous Playmates Toys items will be included in Kids Wish Network’s unique Holiday of Hope Gift Bank program, an uplifting program that brings cheer to children in the care of specialized facilities such as hospitals, abuse and homeless shelters. The donated toys are delivered straight into the hands of the children; there are no “middle men” involved. Doctors and nurses all agree: Sometimes a smile can be the very best medicine!

Playmates Toys’ donation will go a very long way in helping to ease the fears and anxieties that these brave little warriors often experience. What a Success! Kids Wish Network Gives Thanks for their Network of “Guardian Angels” at the 2010 International Toy Fair in New York

HOLIDAY, Fla. - Kids Wish Network, a nationally recognized 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for suffering children, had the chance to extend its appreciation to their many wonderful donors at the International Toy Fair in New York this past week.

This was Kids Wish Network’s 8th year attending the International Toy Fair, held in New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and we were more than excited. Once there, we set up our booth, which was donated to us once again by Toy Industry Association. For this amazing generosity, we were pleased to present the TIA’s president, Carter Keithley, with a plaque to show our appreciation.

Throughout the four exciting and busy days of the toy fair, we met with and were able to give our personal thanks and “lucky” Guardian Angel coins to the many companies and people who have donated their products and services to us over the past year. These donations help make our mission possible and have helped us reach thousands of children through our Gift Bank program, which provides toys and gifts to children in the care of pediatric facilities nationwide.

Our representatives were also able to meet many new contacts in the amazing world of toys. It is heartwarming and exciting when people express an interest in helping us help the kids.

In addition to giving thanks to past donors and meeting new contacts, our Kids Wish Network crew was also able to witness the introduction of many new and exciting products to the international toy market in a bright and bustling environment. We couldn’t believe all the wonderful items we saw that would be absolutely perfect for the playrooms in the hospitals we serve!

Our time at the International Toy Fair was a wonderful 4 days and a true success. Thank you to all who helped make it possible.

After working with children in crisis for over 12 years, we at Kids Wish Network have found that some of the simplest things that children truly love are coloring books and crayons. Despite the demand for high-tech gadgets, crayons and coloring books remain on the top of the list of the most desirable toys.


 Coloring is a calming and relaxing activity for kids who are suffering from illnesses, distressed while dealing with harsh circumstances like homelessness or trying to cope with other traumatic situations such as abuse.
Probably because of their worldwide appeal to children of all ages and situations, coloring books and crayons are some of the hardest products to secure in donations.

With the economic climate of the country today, it’s becoming harder and harder to find donations at all, let alone ones that fit the needs of our kids. We are understanding of this difficulty, but the children still need our help; without your assistance, we cannot give these kids the joy they so deserve during their times of need.

We work hard each and every day, all year round to bring joy to some very courageous kids through our gift giving Holiday of Hope Gift Bank program. This program distributes thousands of dollars worth of toys and games directly to children within approximately 150 hospitals and child care facilities across the country all year round.

Because of the difficult economic times, more and more people are flooding into homeless and abuse shelters, many bringing their children, who have little to make them smile. This is where Kids Wish Network works best, bringing happiness to the lives of these kids.  

In order to bring joy to these very deserving children, we rely on the generosity of toy manufacturers and companies nationwide to donate their products to be given to these children. Time to Get Pampered: Camille Beckman Donates an Amazing Amount of Bath and Body Products for Kids and Teens across the Country

Holiday, FL- The people at Kids Wish Network are overjoyed and excited because they just received wonderful donation of toiletry gifts from Camille Beckman, who produce some of the most desired creams and lotions in the world.

Choo Choo Choo! The CSX “Santa Train” Delivers Joy all across the Appalachians

Holiday, FL – While fulfilling their mission to spread joy and create happy memories for children across the United States, national children’s charity Kids Wish Network donated approximately $130,000 worth of toys and gifts to the CSX Corporation’s “Santa Train” to be distributed among the thousands of impoverished children of the Appalachian Mountains.


 

CSX Corporation, based in Jacksonville, Fla., is one of the nation’s leading transportation companies, providing rail, intermodal and rail-to-truck trainload services. The company’s transportation network spans approximately 21,000 miles, with service to 23 eastern states and the District of Columbia, and connects to more than 70 ocean, river and lake ports.


 In an unbelievable act of boundless generosity, CSX has conducted a charitable event for the people of the Appalachian Mountains called the “Santa Train” every year for 67 years. The other sponsors of this wonderful event are Food City supermarkets and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.

This “Santa Train” is an actual train that is loaded with toys, gifts, food and volunteers that travels through the Appalachian Mountains from Shelby, Kentucky to Kingsport, Tennessee. From the train, these toys, gifts and food are delivered into the hands of the needy children who live in these isolated areas.

The “Santa Train” is a highly anticipated event for the impoverished families of the Appalachians and it has also become a beloved and great American tradition that is being passed down from generation to generation.


 

This year, CSX reached out to national children’s charity Kids Wish Network for help with securing the toys and gifts to provide for the children served by the “Santa Train.” Through their network of “Guardian Angels” that includes some of the nation’s leading manufacturers and distributors, Kids Wish Network provided the CSX “Santa Train” with a donation of assorted toys and presents worth approximately $130,000.


 

In addition to the presents, Kids Wish Network also sent a representative named Ashley to help out with the event.


 

“I was extremely touched by the whole experience of this trip and very proud to be there representing Kids Wish Network. It was a real pleasure to meet and be amongst so many kind people who were there volunteering their time to help reach out to needy children,” said Ashley.


 The joy of the children who came to meet the “Santa Train” was evident in the absolute radiance coming from their smiles; their eyes just lit up when they saw Santa riding along on the back of the train. To see the excitement that was expressed by the kids and to experience the gladly anticipatory spirit of the thousands of children lined up awaiting the arrival of the “Santa Train” was like viewing a glimpse of “true Americana.”

 

According to Ashley, “Being on the ground and seeing the faces of the children first hand made me realize that we really have made a difference in the lives of these children this holiday season. My first toy to hand out on the ground was to a cute little 4 or 5-year-old girl; her face was so full of disbelief that she looked at me twice to make sure the toy was hers to keep and then she ran to her mother with delighted screams of joy.”

 

Because of this “Santa Train,” over 5,000 deserving children will have a little bit more with which to celebrate the holiday season this year. By this event alone, CSX has helped to create a lasting new holiday tradition for the families of the Appalachians.
