Whether a child is confined to a hospital bed after painful treatments, enduring a stay in a homeless shelter or a home for abused children, or waiting for a parent to come home after a long deployment overseas, all children need fun activities to keep their minds off of their worries and to break up the tedium of their days. Each and every one of the beautifully crafted jigsaw puzzles manufactured by SunsOut, Inc. is the perfect activity for these deserving children.

For 17 years, SunsOut, Inc. has been creating their astounding assortment of magnificent jigsaw puzzles and they pride themselves on making some of the highest quality jigsaw puzzles on the market today. Holiday, FL- Major board game manufacturer USAopoly, Inc. just sent even more of their classic board games to Kids Wish Network to distribute to children in crisis through the charity’s gift giving programs.

As the holiday season approached, California-based specialty board game manufacturer USAopoly, Inc. reached out to national children’s charity Kids Wish Network to ensure that the children served by their gift giving programs had enough board games for the holiday season and to start off the New Year. When they heard that their last donation had mostly already been distributed, they leaped into action and quickly sent over another 5 pallets full of their fabulous board games.

USAopoly, Inc. began in 1994 with the founding idea to put a local spin on the classic Parker Brothers® game, Monopoly®. USAopoly, Inc. has been generously sharing their merchandise with the children served by Kids Wish Network’s programs since 2001 and everyone at Kids Wish Network is overjoyed whenever they receive another donation from USAopoly, Inc.

This latest donation included a wonderful assortment of top-of-the-line board games. These superb games will be given directly into the hands of deserving girls and teens nationwide through Kids Wish Network’s unique Holiday of Hope Gift Bank program and the groundbreaking “Kids Wish Network On Tour” program. Both programs bring joy to children all across the country facing difficult circumstances such as illnesses, abuse, neglect and homelessness by providing them with toys, books, clothes, educational products, games and other necessities. Holiday, FL- National children’s charity Kids Wish Network would like to extend their warmest thanks to all of their amazing Guardian Angel donors and sponsors who gave their toys, games, clothes, gifts and necessities to Kids Wish Network during 2011.

As 2011 comes to a close, we at Kids Wish Network would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our phenomenal Guardian Angel donors who have answered our pleas for donations of toys, games, clothes, necessities and educational products.

In a year plagued by a declining economic climate, our Guardian Angels were still able to step up to the plate and send out millions of dollars’ worth of everything we needed for the desperate children we serve through our gift giving programs. Not only did we receive fabulous donations from our treasured long-time Guardian Angels, but we welcomed new donors into our esteemed Guardian Angel network as well!

With their assistance, we were able to send out more Gift Banks of toys than ever before to hospitals, police departments, fire departments and shelters in addition to filling special gift boxes for our wish kids and sending out pallets and pallets of gifts for the children served by the U.S. Army’s Operation Toy Drop and those in residence at Fisher Houses – safe homes away from home for the families of service men and women receiving medical care – across the country.

With the dire needs of deserving children nationwide, it is our privilege to be able to help provide for those kids facing adversity such as homelessness, poverty, neglect and abuse, as well as the children of service men and women who face daily challenges such as loneliness and even the loss of a parent.

Because of the amazing response from our Guardian Angels, these children are able to have something to smile about and give them comfort throughout the year and on into the New Year. It is such an honor to be able to work with these amazing companies who make it possible for us to give directly to these children each and every day.

Eight pallets of an amazing array of toys, games and books for children recently arrived at national children’s charity Kids Wish Network from Mastermedia, a distributor dedicated to providing their retailers with wonderful “family friendly entertainment products” of “strong value.”

As a new “Guardian Angel” donor for 2011, Mastermedia has yet again stepped up to help bring joy to children all year round through Kids Wish Network’s unique programs. This latest donation included a fantastic variety of books for children along with games, media products and all sorts of toys. These fabulous products are sure to bring smiles to the faces of children facing adversity who are in desperate need of something to brighten their days, soothe their fears and warm their hearts.

Mountain View, CA- National children’s charity Kids Wish Network proudly provided over $600,000 worth of toys, clothes and gifts to be given out to children of military families through Operation Toy Drop’s first national effort.

With the joy of the holiday season in their hearts, over 300 military families from around California gathered for the U.S. Army’s Operation Toy Drop event in Mountain View this past weekend. This event was the first of many for both Operation Toy Drop and Kids Wish Network, as their participation was what sparked the Operation’s effort to take their mission to give toys and gifts to deserving children for the holidays nationwide.

Additionally, they are now able to bring toys not only to children in the care of facilities such as shelters and advocacy centers, but also to the children of military families. With many parents, guardians and other loved ones overseas, the holiday season can sometimes be the hardest time of year for the children of military families.

“Military children don’t choose to have a parent deploy or move every 3 years, and they receive no recognition for their resiliency,” said Stacy Castellanos, the Family Readiness Support Assistant for the Army’s 351^st Civil Affairs Command – the unit that put together the event in California. “This was an opportunity for us to all make military children feel appreciated, and Operation Toy Drop should grow into a better event each year.”

In addition to the toys, clothes and other gifts that came to a retail value of over $600,000 that Kids Wish Network sent to California, they also sent three representatives to help out during the event: Barbara Askin, Director of Kids Wish Network’s Distribution Department; Karen Pelle, President of Kids Wish Network’s Board of Directors and President of Megatrux, Inc.; and Tam Lai, Kids Wish Network’s Director of Finance.

Throughout the day, each child was given a gift while parents were able to choose from a wide selection of brand new clothes to give to their kids. An extra surprise brought even more smiles to the children’s faces as Santa Claus arrived at the event in a special holiday train. The kids and parents were also treated to a pizza luncheon and a ride on a festive miniature train.

According to 1^st Lt. Ray Ragan of the 351^st Civil Affairs Command: “Each family left with more than gifts and toys.  The event brought together the Bay Area community as a reflection of the appreciation to the military family and especially their children.”

“We are so proud to be able to provide for the children of military families,” said Kids Wish Network’s Distribution Director, Barbara Askin. “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing smiles on the faces of deserving children. It really brightens your day and warms your heart!”

Holiday, FL- National children’s charity Kids Wish Network is working with several Fire Departments, Police Departments and the U.S. Army to bring holiday cheer and presents of brand new toys, clothes, necessities and other gifts to children facing adversity throughout the Tampa Bay area.         

Picture in your mind the wide, bright smile of a child as they hug a brand new toy or unwrap a fun new game. Now imagine that this child has gone through difficult circumstances such as neglect, abuse, the loss of a parent, loneliness or homelessness. These are the children for whom the joy of the holiday season becomes even more special and meaningful. Not only do toys and games provide these children with a welcome distraction from their unpleasant situations, but they can also bring comfort and a sense of normalcy.

This year is a special one for Kids Wish Network, as we are helping the U.S. Army’s Operation Toy Drop expand their scope to bring toys and gifts during the holiday season to children facing adversity and the children of military families nationwide for the first time. In the past month alone, we have sent out pallets upon pallets of toys and gifts worth over $600,000 retail value to different military bases, Fisher Houses and military medical facilities nationwide. Included in this national effort, we are sending over $40,000 worth of gifts to Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, right here in the local Bay Area.

In addition to providing toys, clothes and other gifts to Operation Toy Drop, Kids Wish Network is also sending out gifts worth a retail value of over $20,000 each to the following:

• Dunedin Fire Department
• Palm Harbor Fire Rescue
• Tarpon Springs Fire Department
• Tarpon Springs Police Department

Fort Bragg, NC – National children’s charity Kids Wish Network proudly provided nearly a million dollars’ worth of toys, clothes and gifts to be given out to children facing adversity through the U.S. Army’s Operation Toy Drop’s national program.

As the sun rose over the Sicily Drop Zone at U.S. Army base Fort Bragg in North Carolina, the silhouettes of over a thousand parachuting soldiers created a joyful sight for the crowd on the ground. You see, this was not a battle; it was Operation Toy Drop.  

Since 1998, U.S. Army base at Fort Bragg has hosted Operation Toy Drop to benefit children in need. During a week-long toy drive, paratroopers and other members of the military bring new, unwrapped toys to the base to benefit deserving children all around Fort Bragg. Once collected, the toys are sorted, wrapped and distributed to local children’s homes and social service agencies. The soldiers who brought the toys are then entered into a lottery for the chance to parachute from a plane into the Sicily Drop Zone in Fort Bragg under the guidance of a foreign jumpmaster. The ones who participate are then awarded with the much-coveted foreign jumpwings.

Through the support of national children’s charity Kids Wish Network, this year is especially monumental for Operation Toy Drop, as this year will be the first that the program is able to reach out nationally, including other military bases across the country to benefit children from children’s homes, shelters and advocacy centers. Additionally, Fisher Houses nationwide –safe “homes away from home” for the families of service men and women receiving care at military hospitals and medical facilities – have received toys and necessities from Kids Wish Network to help brighten the holidays for the children in their care.

“The need isn’t just here in Fayetteville,” said a spokesperson for Operation Toy Drop. “It’s national. And Kids Wish Network’s participation has allowed us to double our impact in the communities we serve. This ability to put smiles on the faces of so many more children means the world to us. It’s all about the kids and getting toys out to them.”

The toys, clothes and other gifts that were shipped to Fort Bragg by Megatrux, Inc., one of the most treasured “Guardian Angel” donors for Kids Wish Network. In addition to these gifts, Kids Wish also sent their founders, Mark and Shelley Breiner along with Executive Director Anna Lanzatella to participate in the amazing event.

“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the soldiers,” said Kids Wish Network’s Executive Director, Anna Lanzatella. “It was wonderful to be able to mingle with the soldiers and hear about their families.”

During their visit, the Kids Wish representatives drew the names of the soldiers who were given “jump slots,” gave out their special Guardian Angel coins, toured Fort Bragg and witnessed the jump along with the special pinning ceremony for the foreign jumpwings. They were also able to tour the local Fisher House and Womack Army Medical Center. There, at Womack, the Kids Wish representatives met some of the brave service men and women who had been injured and were receiving treatment. They shared their gratitude with the soldiers and presented these true, national heroes with Kids Wish Network Hero t-shirts and Guardian Angel coins.

“This was definitely an unforgettable experience,” said Anna. “We at Kids Wish Network are certainly looking forward to continually providing gifts for Operation Toy Drop as well as Fisher House. There is certainly a need and we are honored to be able to help the brave members of our military, their families and children facing adversity nationwide.”
