Kids Wish Network Brings Cheer to Kids at Georgetown University Hospital

Washington, D.C. – Being in the hospital is definitely no fun and for kids having to go in for medical treatment, it’s not only no fun, but it’s also oftentimes scary and uncomfortable. One thing that definitely helps is getting to pick out a brand new toy when they arrive. Thanks to Kids Wish Network’s Holiday of Hope Gift Bank, hospital visits are getting a lot easier for kids at Georgetown University Hospital. The Gift Bank is an uplifting, gift-giving event that brings cheer to children admitted to the hospital for treatment. The organization is honored to be able to provide toys with a retail value of over $60,000 to the hospital through its unique Holiday of Hope Gift Bank.
This special Gift Bank was delivered to Georgetown by Fed Ex. As always, this amazing company comes through time and time again to make sure that kids all over the country get their toys. And the kids in D.C. couldn’t be happier.
The hospital is also thrilled with the gifts. “The gift bank is AWESOME because we get to share with all the other parts of the hospital that cater to pediatric patients such as radiology, same day surgery, the ER and multiple clinics,” said Linda Kim, Child Life Specialist at Georgetown University Hospital.
As just one of the programs that makes Kids Wish Network different from similar organizations, its Holiday of Hope Gift Bank is a special program created to bring comfort to kids entering the hospital for medical care. The brand new toys and games, donated by some of America’s top toy manufacturers, are distributed to sick youngsters when they arrive to a children’s care facility. The Gift Banks help alleviate fears and anxieties by allowing children to temporarily forget about the stinging needles and uncomfortable procedures often endured while undergoing medical treatment.
